ParticipantHi all first post hoping someone can advise.
Samsung RS20CCSV1/XEU side by side fridge freezer 10 yrs old
We had a couple of power trips in the house caused by a external pond pump, following morning noticed the freezer had just about defrosted and the compressor was hot. The compressor starts for 4 seconds then the relay /protector clicks it off for a couple of mins and so on.Pressing both power freeze buttons does not show any error codes.I have tested the compressor with a multimeter and the readings add up to what they should and it is not shorting to earth.
The capacitor readings go up then down when pins reversed which I believe is correct.
Changed the relay ptc and overload protector.
Temp sensors seem to work as I fill the fridge freezer with hot air (hair dryer) and turn off on and temp display goes up.
To be sure I was going to wire up the compressor directly to the mains to test but the youtube vid with Jamaican? guy bridging the start and run posts with a screwdriver looked a tad scary.
Any Ideas would be appreciated as strapped for cash at the mo 😥
cheers

The compressor has seized and needs replacing.
This is not a DIY job and as it is 10 years old it is most likely 134a refrigerant .
So you will need an F gas registered engineer.

Some of the older rs20 models use R134a you need to check the refrigerant type it is marked on the rating plate or compressor.
If it is on r600a it will have a warning sign on the compressor.
Please let us know the refrigerant type on your model as it says your model compressor is obsolete but an alternative can be fitted.
