ParticipantI swear the customer must have mistaken ground coffee for rolled tobacco.
Is he trying to get me high?

Never ever have a drink in a customers, that’s my personal choice and its kept me safe and disease free all these years. Even the sanest appearing clients can have some dodgy habits.

I don’t always take up the offer of free drinks, if the kitchen is clean and the laundry facilities clean then yes I would have a drink otherwise I would decline the offer. If it is grotty, then I would very wisely decline the offer even if it means dying of thirst and I shall comfort myself with the knowledge that a man can survive without water for 48 hours.
Some jobs you slave away for hours and still not get offered a drink – these kinds of jobs leaves *ahem* bad taste in my mouth! I don’t know which is worse, not being offered a drink at all or realised just before I was about to pack my tool box up only to be said “oh, have I not offered you a drink, oh sorry, shall I make you one?” – sadly I would have love to have a drink but it’s too late.
I recently faced a dilemma that I was presented a nice brew with a plateful of biscuits (six biscuits to be exact all my favourites). Should I scoff the lot or shall I leave one behind or just take one or not take it at all but the thought of the biscuits could end up in the bin was too much to bear. So I took the risk, I scoffed the lot! The next day I got top reviews, I think it was boiled down on how you cleaned their biscuit plate not leaving any crumbs behind that matters otherwise that would be taking the biscuits. (excuse the pun!)

ALWAYS politely decline the offer of a drink from customers.

If it’s clean I always except the offer of a drink ,the ones you have to be careful of are the milky coffees made by pensioners that they place in the microwave and nuke until the temperature of molten lava ,can add two hours on to you’re working day 😀

Regular customer and long standing acquaintance through family, always offers a cup of tea, and I always forget to decline in time.
Pint mug, 2 tea bags, stands for 10 mins then says sorry, hope you like it black as have run out of milk! Then adds sorry not got any sugar as I don’t use it.
Trouble is he is always chatty and hovers around so little chance of loosing it ❗July 15, 2014 at 6:38 am #416498SAMURI

Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkI was offered a bacon sandwich as the owner was frying the bacon and the smell wafted around the house sending my tummy rumbling and quite wisely I turned the offer down, the owner decided to chop up the bacon and fed it to the dog instead who also turned his nose away and walked off. Phew that saved my bacon so to speak!
I was fixing his fridge, so maybe the bacon might be off.

I tried to get a free breakfast or even a paid one from a cafe that I was called out to.
The brand refused to call/repair the range cooker under warranty as its commercial, client blankly refused to accept it, so I get to inspect premises. Only one cooker, the range that is not used for commercial usage in an obviously commercial kitchen, client swears its used only for the staff.
So I ordered the full monty breakfast on the menu £5.99 special, only she got all funny, started shout the odds, got all girlie and threw me out.
I guess the brand went back and fixed it.

I was offered a coffee by a Arab customer once, the house was immaculate and the customer looked like personal hygiene was pretty high up on their list of to do’s so I accepted…… I was then delivered a very small cup with a strange liquid in it and 2 small packages (dried dates) on the saucer at the side “it’s Arabic coffee” said the customer “and you take a bite from the dried date as you take a mouthful” never again will I accept a cuppa!!

I had one of those in Bath one day. Not an experience you forget as I think you chew the coffee as well as the date.
Mind you, the caffeine high lasted days, so…

A very long time ago, I think I may have attempted to fix this asylum seeker Entrean’s family (one of those African nation) washing machine or oven. The host have this coffee ritual involving pop corn, roasting coffee on the camping gaz stove sending smoky roasted coffee smell around the house, then it was transferred into liquid that is similar size to a glass of whiskey. Like Ken said the caffeine high lasted for days. The coffee was the size of expresso that makes the Itailian’s expresso at Costa Coffee seem weak, sweetened with sugar and gulp it down. It was a long time ago but the taste seem vaguely familiar. But they insists you to have another one, in those culture it is considered as impolite to refuse.
