I have two of these machines and they are both malfunctioning.

On one, the freezer is functioning perfectly but the fridge is not cooling. Technical advice is that fan needs to be changed and this is too expensive to do unless covered by insurance. Views?

On the second, there is a ‘waterfall’ of ice down the back of the bottom compartment of the freezer and water ice builds up in the base of the drawer and needs to be removed regularly. I have noted that the water collection reservoir at the back of the unit is completely dry – might there be a connection (or disconnection!)here? Does the drain need to be cleared and if so how?

Any thoughts on how to proceed on either issue would be helpful.

Re: John Lewis (Electrolux) 2015 Fridge Freezer

I bought A John Lewis Fridge freezer model JLFFW2102 5 years ago – ok, it’s a long time ago but it stopped working just inside the warranty period (3 years, thank god) – it was repaired but it couldn’t be used for 2 weeks while they sorted out the spare parts. I therefore had to buy another fridge to keep my food fresh!
It’s been working ok since then but now the freezer door is rusting quite badly and JL won’t honour their Sale of Goods act 6 year obligation, telling me that it’s cosmetic and therefore not covered! Yes, cosmetic until the door rusts away and falls off.
Before you ask, it lives in my kitchen, not the garage or damp outhouse, so condensation isn’t the cause.
I did some research before I bought this and apparently it’s a rebadged AEG model, but now I read that they commission an Italian manufacturer to make them on the cheap.
This item is a pile of junk, don’t buy one! That’s £600 down the drain, not good enough, John Lewis.
So much for their reputation for quality goods and excellent customer service. That’s the last item I will buy from them; I nearly bought a Bosch and wish I had.
