I recently bought a s/h cannon electric cooker. all works fine except… after you use the oven, then turn it off, it stays hot. The light goes out, the fan goes off and to all intents & purposes it looks like it’s off… but if you go back to it, sometimes the next day, you find the oven is still quite hot. I’m having to turn it off at the mains to get it to cool right down.
I really don’t want to have to uninstall & take it back – anyone any ideas what the problem is? it’s nothing to do with timers as it’s set to manual and the manual indicator comes on.

Good luck with that but it could be one of the selector switch contacts welded together? Don’t mess with live exposed electrics. Ovens (especially s/hand ones) can be dangerous ground. :zap:

after blaming myself for a few burnt dinners, i have now realised that the oven cooks on full heat whatever you set it too.. eg chicken supposed to cook for 40 mins at 190c is burnt after 20mins at 80c.. The guy i bought it off said it didn’t do this when he used it (right…). All i’ve done was carry it from the car to my house and connect it.. hmmmm

If it has the conventional capillary tube thermostat then likely as not the journey has caused the phial to break. Was probably corroded anyway, especially the part in the oven cavity. Conclusion = New thermostat required.
