    Hello

we have a 2.5 yr old Smeg dw, can’t find the model written down anywhere but it’s a ‘built-under’ full width ordinary one, door hinged at the bottom, 8 cycles, delay timer, etc etc.

It’s taken to stopping part way through the cycle (anywhere between 10 and 50 min in). There are four ‘progress lights’ and the manual decodes various combinations of these into ‘error codes’ – but the combination we are seeing isn’t listed – it’s ON/ON/OFF/OFF.

Anyone got any idea of what’s going on & whether it might be DIY fixable?

    thanks

    Ian

    Ian,
I take it that there is a power light as well, to make 5 lights? If so you have a heat problem. This may be caused by a number of things ranging from element failure, thermostat failure to the computer board failure and numerous other things including water level.

Best bet may be professional repair, check Repairs@ or Directories for a repairer in your area.

If you are going to investigate, pull the plug first.

    Regards,
    Penguin45.

Ian, the model number will be on the side of the door,(can be seen when the door is open) right hand side as you look at it. if not then try the left side!

Thanks for your responses. I now know where to look to find the model number!!

However, my wife was much more tenacious than me, and having agressively cleaned/degunked the various filters & run the machine empty a couple of times, it’s a happy bunny again.

Thanks for the support, much appreciated. Cool website!
