I have a White Knight gas tumble drier, model BG442/1. For the most part it works well, but when the weather is warm and the drier has been running for a while the drier cuts out. The burner (if it’s on) cuts out and the drum stops rotating.

After a while things cool down and the drier will start again, often briefly at first but then as the cooling continues it will run properly.

Clearly some sort of cutout is operating; this is not normal thermostat operation (which seems to be fine).

I’ve found a service manual on the Internet but it’s not clear to me from the circuit diagram which part would be the cutout. What do I need to replace?

For what it’s worth I’ve not taken the machine apart, but there don’t appear to be any air flow issues; the flow out of the vent seems strong and everywhere I can reach seems clear of lint.

    Help, please!

    Rob.

from the diagram i have found this is quite a simple unit

following your description of the fault it seems the motor stops and it all switches off from there

as this motor is fed directly from the timer i can only assume the motor overheat protector is tripping which is part of the motor
