The wheels on the LHS of the lower basket have been melted by the heating element and wash cycle takes a long time to complete.
I disconnected the machine and reconnected it to a temporary hose pipe supply in the back yard. It worked perfectly and completed a superwash cycle including a rinse and dry in an hour and a half.
I reconnected the machine in the kitchen and still no better. I notice an almost constant slight trickle of water coming from the white rose half way up the lefthand inner wall of the machine but not the usual sound of the machine filling. I have checked the filler hose and there are no kinks or flat sections.
What should I check next? Any help would be appreciated.

Could be low water pressure in your kitchen feed.

Fill /safety valves often fail with age on these. The valve is still available but is around £47.00.

Many parts now obsolete for this old stager so caution is advised before any major outlay.
