ParticipantHi all. Can anyone help me please? I purchased my new 9kg HOTPOINT ULTIMA WMUD962P in May this year. I have scowled the instruction book, internet and even contacted Hotpoint to locate the Prewash function but unable to find anything.
On the specifications on the internet it says it does have one.
My husband works as a fire and flood technician and his uniform does need prewashing.
Can someone advise me please.
Thanking you in advance.August 12, 2014 at 8:19 am #417746Salamander

If you’ve done all that then it sounds like it doesn’t have one, just do a quick cold wash first?

Or you could try it on one of the heavy soil settings and monitor it to see if it fills, washes then drains, refills and then does a full wash programme. Auto prewash cycles are usually only included in the hottest wash setting.
It does not appear to have a separate prewash cycle.
At the same time put some powder detergent in both drawers, if it has a prewash it should take the powder from the small drawer and then take the powder from the main drawer later.
I have had a close look at the user manual and as you say it is not mentioned. Unfortunately I don’t have access to the service manual for that model which does ‘sometimes’ show a full sequence chart.

Hi
I have a WMUD10637 on display which is the same as your 962. Having had a play around with it and reading the manual which again is the same as yours by the looks of it.
All the following page numbers are from my 10637, page 10 it states do not put any powder into compartment 2 (middle one which I would assume would be where the pre wash would normally go).
Page 8 setting wash intensity with the cleaning action button, if this is set to super it adds approx 30 mins to the cycle with increased water level and drum action and you can use 90 degree temp. This is the heaviest cycle available and should shift the most stubborn of stains while giving the best wash results.
Again on page 8 anti stain with resistant colours for a better than A class wash, which can be pre treated. This paragraph does need a lot of reading in order to obtain the best result.
It certainly looks like a pre wash as we know it is not used on this range of machines but the best wash results can be achieved by other options.
HTH 🙂

Thanks for your replies. Unfortunately I am unable to select a hot wash as his uniform is navy blue so needs to be washed on a 40 degree cycle. I wanted to prewash it first to get rid of any residues of dirt etc before the main wash. cycles on this machine are very long indeed. Yes very strange that the instructions say not to use the middle compartment when it’s clearly there for a reason.
Oh well, if anybody finds anything please let me know. For now I will use a quick wash in replace of a prewash 🙁 -
