    Hello,
I have read some advice for a person on this site with a newer appliance than mine.
Mine is approx 19 years old.
I think both door springs are gone…. Resistance became poor several months ago and then after a ‘bang’ upon opening the door yesterday the resistance is now completely gone!
I have rang a repair engineer who thinks it is unlikely that parts will be available.
I have checked the model number on the AEG website and springs are definitely available for my model at approx £5 each.
On reading the advice you have given to somebody earlier it suggested that the screws may need replacing etc. is this a job I could undertake myself….
Should I get this repaired by a professional?
Or do you think I should count my losses and buy a new appliance!

The repair man said it would cost at least (120.00)
I would pay if I thought that it was going to be working for another few years. It has been an amazing appliance.

    Model number is 911232014

    Thank you in anticipation!
    Julie 🙂

i dont know which part of the country you are in but here in the northwest £120 sounds a bit steep

have you tried this website to find an engineer

get him to look and confirm what has gone before you order the springs. as i do he will also put a trained eye on other components to see if they are going

Don’t waste your money Julie. It can be fixed but I guarantee something else will fail big time on it weeks later and you’ll be kicking yourself if it did. Don’t tempt fate. 😉
