ParticipantMy Lavamat Turbo (Model L16830 Type P6359599) stops filling shortly after starting. After this, the counter resets and the wash, spin, rinse and door lights go red. The start/pause light flashes. Turning the control knob off and then back to the desired program either gives one to ten seconds of water coming in or gets it going properly, but this has to be done from 1 to over fifty times. When the problem began it only took a few ‘go’s to get it going, but gradually it has needed more and more, though it is still a bit random. Two days ago it took around forty off/ons to make it work, yesterday only one. Today I’ve given up after doing it around eighty times. Tried to get it to drain or spin so that I can get my washing out, but it’s cutting out as soon as it starts. No error message shows. The machine did this for a period in the past, then began working normally again without intervention. I don’t use the tumble drier much, but it was working OK last night.
Help! 😕

The tumble dryer element has an earth leak I reckon.

Thanks for your reply, Martin.
We pulled the machine out and disconnected the first and last terminals on the elements. Machine washed fine like this. Then reconnected the terminal at the right hand side (looking from front) – wash program was fine again. Tumble drier program operating without heat. Reconnected left hand terminal and then successfully ran a fifty minute hot drier session. Hoped this would dry out the elements, if that’s what’s been causing the problem, but the wash programs still won’t work with that left terminal connected. Is there any chance that running a few more hot drier sessions would sort things out? I don’t use the drier all that often, but I’d still like to have the option.

The only solution is to replace the element.

Sorry, Martin, just realised I hadn’t said thanks for your help. Happily, doing a 4 or 5 washes interspersed with drier cyles, plugging in and unplugging the terminal inbetween, appears to have fixed the problem. Will make a habit of using the drier regularly so the problem doesn’t recur.
Thanks again
Julie
