So i have a AEG Lavamat 50430. It’s making this grinding noise intermittently whenever the machine is in rinse/empty and the pump is running. It gets worse towards the very end of the cycle until it becomes constant. However it doesn’t really do it whilst the water is actually being emptied, just when it has been fully emptied and the pump continues in the background i think? Im wondering if it is even worth trying to sort it or just buying a new one as i cannot afford £100 repair call out.

Clapped out pump or something inside the pump rattling around. Have you actually checked the filter chamber to see if there’s something stuck inside?

Yes I’ve checked the filter and seems clear.
Edit: Sorry no i have no checked the actual pump at the back. I have no idea what im doing in regards to looking myself.

Closer look at the pump then your next move. Probably got a lot of lateral movement on the impeller.

2 noises possible on the drain/spin. If it makes noise when drum still then drain pump. If it makes noise when drum turning then could be drum related

Still makes the noise when drum has stopped. Doesn’t do it in wash cycle or when spinning.

I have opened up the back and it is definitely the pump making the noise. The pump is located near the front of the machine the other side of the drum housing and looks a real effort to get to. Think ill just keep running it until it gives out.
