    Looking for some assistance, I’ve just returned home and the missus has informed me that the washing machine keeps tripping the RCD each time she switches the machine on. This afternoon the machine began it’s cycle and just after it started tripped the RCD. The machine is about 5years old so not sure if out of parts warranty or not. Before I call an engineer is there any “quick checks” I can carry out to try and narrow down the fault.

    Unless you have suitable electrical test equipment and know how to use it then there are no quick, safe checks you can do TBH. Parts covered for five years but labour charge is £100+
