Taking the wee wee customers

..a particular customer i have dealt with some years ago i never really get paid as such, i used to always get the arm around me and the sob story ” times are hard “. told to leave a bill and he will pay but never hear anything again but always has the neck to call you again when something goes wrong :rolls: :rolls: :rolls: , also excuses from her ” oh i hid my purse from the kids and can’t remember where i left it blah blah ” :rolls:

So the last time i just never answered the phone to him, that was 10 years ago…. He died since. His wife rang me last week. I was told by others he was the problem and that she might be a different story so i gave her the benefit of the doubt…

Bosch washing machine, i go out and diagnose and told her what it would cost. I go the next day and when the bill comes it’s like oh that’s a lot of money , total cost 83 euro, including few bits and pieces to make it right and to be honest only getting 40-45 euro out of it after parts and still oh too much blah blah, so she gives me 30 euro but asks me to phone her Monday to pay the rest but i’m not hopefull, it’s even going to cost me more money to go out and collect it…. she had no appreciation for the job at all…. I had to stand there and try to explain and justify my own living.. 🙁 great job satisfaction!

How do you other engineers on here handle people like this? Do you cut them out altogether? Unfortuneately when it comes to asking for money i can be a little soft…
