Hotpoint Ultima FDD914 start/pause light always flashing

Hi. I’ve got a 5 year old Hotpoint Ultima FDD914 dishwasher, with its start/pause light flashing permanently. BUT pressing it does nothing at all. The dishwasher will not start washing or start its count down.

When I switched on yesterday, the normal lights shone (out of salt, out of softener) as they have for 5 years, and the programs all show and I can rotate through them. I can set appropriate add-ons such as short, and can set a delay with the usual clock symbol blinking when I do so. I just cannot start it washing.

I’ve switched off and on, left it off overnight to give it time to lose any static electricity, but the light keeps flashing and no program will start. Checked all filters, mopped up all water in trap. Switched on/off. Left off at mains overnight. Checked all arms and sprays for blockage. Tried different programs, with and without delay.

Is there anything I can I do?
