My washer dryer flashes F15 when draining. The code apparently means ”F15 – Water is not being pumped out and a flood condition could occur. Check that the drainage hose is raised to the recommended minimum height and that the pipe is not blocked”
So yesterday I removed the drain hose from the drain pump and checked it for blockages, I removed the hose from the sump to the drain pump and removed a few coins and half a pencil, I checked the filter which was clean then I put it all back together again and the fault was still there.
This evening I put the drain hose into a plastic bin rather than the outlet pipe to the outside drain then put the machine on a rinse cycle to observe what it is doing.
It drains with good pressure from the pump for about 10 – 15 seconds then shuts off and flashes F15, if I switch it off then back on and press start it will drain again but switch off with the fault code again after the same amount of time. I had to do this three times to drain the machine.

Tomorrow I am thinking I might pull the drain system apart again and give it all a good clean and look for any more debris in the system and also check the wiring and the pump.
Is there anything else I should be looking at as a possible cause? The drain pump doesnt seem to be making any strange noises and seems to have good pressure.

Sods law our insurance lapsed a while back and we didnt renew it, once this is fixed I will be reinstating our insurance.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, Im a plumber retrained as a motor mechanic so I have tools and should hopefully be able to sort this once I know what to look for.

I also pulled this off the net for F15 but I dont think it applies in this instance,

    ”Dryer element relay
Check pressure switch, wiring and module connections

Also check the dryer element and thermostats for good measure”

I had another look around this today, pulled the pump back out and tested it, cleaned it and checked the wiring, I checked for more debris, cleaned the pipework etc etc and could find nothing wrong with it.
I checked over the rest of the machine and found nothing obvious.
Time to get an engineer out I thought.
Because the machine is less than five years old it still has a free parts warranty and Indesit wanted 110 quid to come and fix it however for 13 quid a month they gave me a full unlimited warranty, so I went with that.
To reinstate the old insurance would cost less per month but it would have been 100 quid for a repair within the first 45 days so it would have ended up more expensive.
I will update this after the engineer has been and let you know what the problem was, fingers crossed the engineer will write the thing off, I can but dream I guess.

One thing I did find was a very blocked condenser, it still worked but not to its full potential, also the grille between the condenser and drum was badly blocked. This had caused an issue where the condenser mated to the fan/element housing and the plastic condenser had badly melted and no longer mates correctly or tightly to the fan housing so it will probably need a new one of those.

Hi robgil, this has just happened to me as well.. it won’t even complete a spin cycle let alone a wash without f-15 popping up. The dryer motor burnt out on mine and was disconnected but now it effectively does nothing at all! Did you get anywhere with repairs? If so could you tell me what it was please?! Due another visit in 3 days time..

How interesting it would be to realise the outcome of this, though I doubt little more will be heard of robgil’s story. His admission of finding ……”several coins and half a pencil” gives a clue as to the abuse it had been subjected to so I wish him well in getting a successful resolve, albient a very costly excercise. A typical tale overall.
