ModeratorI got a call to a tumble dryer today, at a medium sized residential care home. I was taken into the cellar and couldn’t believe my eyes. Six machines just under two months old, three Hotpoint Aqualtis washers and three Aqualtis dryers. :eeek:
Not sure if I should steer well clear or think of how many calls I will get before they bin them and go back to the commercial machines they used to have. 🙁

Walk away. Nightmare. Does your insurance cover commercial properties springs to mind.

Peveral owned maybe? I have several and in the beginning they all had Asko appliances that ran reliably (with the odd bit of maintenance and a few faults) for 15 years…… now they all have Hotpoints, Chinese Zanussi’s etc and lots of complaining residents. Probably fit a belt and rear bearings to the Hotpoint dryers 5 times a year, the washers are generally replaced by similar crap at 18 months at best.
This is despite my hard sell to the managers on ISE machines but the budget they have to spend on new has been cut to nothing while the maintenance budget appears to have no limit.September 17, 2014 at 7:32 am #419304iadom

No idea who owns the place, they paid me in cash for resetting the TOC, tripped due to clogged condensor. :rolls:ISE sales will be even harder quite soon. 😉

To be honest guys, this is where we see the largest volume of problems and get the bulk of grief.
Commercial installations also highlight faults caused by abuse, overloading and just good old lack of any care whatsoever or any user maintenance as, in the vast bulk, it’s staff that don’t give a toss about the machines or the damage caused as, it ain’t them that’s paying for it. Some of the things that they do are just despicable, we’ve even had them deliberately break them as, if the machines are broken, they can sit and play Candy Crush or mess about on Facebook using their phone, they can’t work you see, the machine’s are busted.
But the owner, property manager and/or those not even there will tell you in the strongest of terms that the machines are not abused, never overloaded and treated with the utmost care. Even when the evidence staring you in the face says exactly the opposite.
All this, every time it kicks off, is a conflict that is unavoidable.
You see the same in some residential properties but, far, far less.
It eats up your time dealing with this cr4p and, to be blunt, it’s really not worth the hassle as you lose not only the time but often by the time you get to the point of proving the case, it’s cost service calls and spares.
To the point where you lose money on them and, on several occasions, we have refused to sell new machines to some properties and have refused to supply in the first instance to some as we know they’re going to be a constant issue and almost certainly generate a loss.
My advise is, before you get involved with any commercial stuff think very, very carefully about what you’re getting into.

What repair guarantee do you guys give on domestic machines used on commercial premises?
How do you cope with that washroom urine smell anyway?

As time goes on you’ll be there every couple of weeks Jim. You won’t be able to fit the cruises in in between 😀
