Customer reported that this machine was giving erratic wash cycle. The spin program was not doing as required instead reverted to wash.

I checked the motor which is clean as a whistle and plenty of wear on the carbons.

The wash heater insulation is 45mohm but still in working order. The heater may be on its way out? I can’t see how would this affect the erratic wash.

The dryer heaters are fine, the pcb (top and bottom) clean as a whistle.

Am I correct in thinking the knob selector might be worn?

The washer dryer looked very well looked after, anyone would have thought it new.

Change the heater Twicky. The element should read infinity. What are you like eh? 😉

Assuming the customer is explaining the fault correctly, what happened when you tried the spin?
The selector units on this model were a weak point. 45M ohm on the heater , I doubt it’s causing any problems.

I turned to spin, it spun away no problems but wld not end the cycle, the timer rotates to program 3 and starts the wash.

The heater is closed circuit and it does work. If I disconnect the heater, the insulation reading shoots up to around 300mohm. I am pretty sure the heater is not cause of problem.

It seems to point that there is a fault with the timer.

It’s looking like your original suspicion of the motorised selector switch being faulty.
