ParticipantLooking for some advice…
My dishwasher has stopped working and I have checked everything I can think of.
One morning an electrical burning smell was coming from the dishwasher and it has not worked properly since. Turns out the burn was coming from the Float Switch.
Here are the symptoms:
1. Purge – OK: Dishwasher starts by pumping out any water left.
2. Fill – No good: When it goes to start the cycle it just ‘stalls’. No water is allowed in.Here’s what I checked:
1. Inlet valve: checked terminals and Voltage is ok. However, I bought a new part and replaced anyway. Still nothing.
2. Float Switch: (should have checked this first but couldn’t find it). The electrical connector within the plastic housing is burnt out. Replaced part, connected and still no good.
3. Softener Tank: pulled this out as last resort to check for blockage and seems ok.What would you diagnose as the root cause?
What may have caused the float switch to burn out? ❓Your expert advice would be very welcome!

had a few do it its either a leak or because it wants to
if there is no sign of leaks just change it they are not expensive

Hi, thanks for the response, but I already replaced it and still no good. What else could I look into?
This is the part I replaced:

Could it be a related terminal/connector I need to replace that I haven’t identified?September 29, 2014 at 1:35 pm #419389electrofix

1 check you have turned tap on and it is working
2 check to see if water valve coil works should get a resistance of 3000 – 5000 ohms

Is the plug on the float switch the right way around?

Man, I’m struggling.
Will be a shame to throw it out but looking that way.
Thanks to those who tried so far – any other tips?
