I had the dishwasher on yesterday and the houses main RCD tripped.

I turned it back on and could hear a popping sound from the dishwasher in the kitchen.

The dishwasher had finished its washing program and was on its drying program.

I turned the dishwasher off at the socket and left it until tonight to have a look.

The dishwasher is still powering up and I assume would try to work.

Ive had a visual inspection inside and cannot see any damage.

I also done some ohm readings on main components to see if anything is not quite right.

Nothing is open circuit that I tested everything seemed ok.

    Draining pump, 199.1
    Main pump, 97.1 (without capacitor)
    Main pump capacitor, 164.1
    Heating element, 25.2

This is with my digital multimeter set to “200” so I assume these figures are ohms.

I have checked the control panel too for damage as I have read that on some models this is a fire hazard but that appears to be ok.

Does anyone have any suggestions of what the problem could be?

    Thanks,

    Ben

First thing to check is the mains filter, close to where the mains cable enters the machine.

Sorry, ive never came across one of these devices before.

    How would i test it?

Visually it looks fine. I know what your talking about I think, looked a bit like a starter for a fluorescent light with spade connectors sticking out the top?

If thats it there was no burning or discolouration?

    Thanks,

    Ben

A close visual test is usually all that is needed, other possible causes are wiring harness faults, often inside the door.

It is a 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} Indesit machine with the pcb, heater and main motor all known weak areas. 🙁

Well after not finding any problems I decided to try it.

I put a pack of dishwasher cleaner in an monitored a full wash with the cleaner and all went fine.

Ill try another cleaner pack to make sure the heating element is clean from limescale

It was well overdue a cleaner I should have done it a while ago.

I really dont understand why as I even smelt burning! Unless it was something else it the kitchen, electic oven was on too and the gas cooker hob.

Weird. Well ill continue to monitor everything to see if maybe something else was the problem
