ParticipantI love to research items, understand the difference in engineering, models, ranges, features.. seems all washing machines are sold by a plethora of made up terms to describe some minor variation of design.
The Bosch codes leave me confused.
Trying to compare a WAQ28461GB to a WAQ283S1GB for example??
I get that some models sit in ranges, Classix at the bottom, then Exxcel, then topping with Logixx. Then I see mention of 2 series, 4 series 6 series.. a few variations of the first three letters… then all the store special models, that sit outside of Bosch main naming conventions..I like the Logixx bigger style display with direct spin and temp selection buttons, but then I see that style display on an Exxcel model…
I’m annoyed trying to compare them all to get a decent deal. Are any built different? Do all now have a sealed drum?
Lastly, I’ve seen the Currys advert for the WAQ243D1GB at £319.. or there is the WAQ283S1GB at AO with cashback considered at £350 or the WAQ28461GB at £400.. is there anything to set them apart in design or quality of build, or is it purely £30 extra for a higher spin speed 1400 > 1200??
Should I be looking at other models perhaps.
Thanks for any help understanding this.

Hi
Purely spin..same cabinets, same motors (generally) same pumps, same door gasket same wiring, same bearings..in essence cosmetically and subtle grade changes or program changes.

……..John Lewis, Currys, AO and others have their own ‘buyers’ that insist Bosch supply a range of machines to them each bearing a different model number. Therefore none can be cross-referenced for price comparison. The clever, long established “Never Knowingly Undersold” sales slogan ensures the product they sell therefore cannot be purchased cheaper elsewhere.
There is merit in a little sales ‘research’ but, as you have discovered, it is virtually impossible to get a true comparison as a result. As my colleague said earlier, they are pretty much the same machine anyway. 😀

Hi
To give you a little clarity on Bosch machines, they are having a launch of new freestanding products washing machines included.
For a while it will be a little confusing as the series numbers and the range names like Classixx etc will run side by side until stocks of the names are exhausted and replaced by further series models.
The best way of comparing is to use the compare option on the Bosch website here
