    Hey there
I’ve got a problem with my Zanussi : the fridge element seems to have stopped working as it’s simply not cold anymore.
The thermostat seems to be working fine as it makes the familiar clicking sound when I turn it from “0” to “1” and beyond, but even at “6” the temperature seems the same as normal room temp. I know the machine has “kicked in” when I turn the thermostat as it starts vibrating again so as far as I can see it, the element must be faulty.
I’ve even taken off the metal panel to take a look at it and it’s not even cold to the touch.

Is it possible to get a replacement and if so is it simple enough to fit?

Just want to say I LOVE this site – I thought I’d have to ditch the machine and buy a new one, but the internet is the best, isn’t it?? 😀

There is no “element” as such as this is a compressor type fridge/freezer and relies on refrigerent gas and compession/expansion to work.

On any setting higher than 1 I assume it runs continuously but never actually gets cold ?

    That’s precisely it …
The “element” (or thing I thought was one) is behind a metal panel on the inside back, behind the shelves, inside the larder part of the fridge.

It runs and runs and runs but never gets cold at all any more. It’s ambient room temp only …

Sorry – that was me in the post above, despite the username

So would I be right in thinking that some kind of temperature monitor is faulty? The thing that tells the fridge to become colder?
Or is it a problem WAY beyond the imagination of the layman ?
