Evening all hope someone can shed some light,

I replaced the tub on my aqgmd 129 which is sealed with a brand new part (C00262726 Hotpoint Complete Drum Assembly) 13 months ago and has now failed its WHIRRRING its head off .

But only lasting 13 months id assume I could get it replaced under the manufacturer guarantee or is it another £141 … it was bought through UK white goods?

    Any help/advice

Max warranty you’ll get from a manufacturer when buying parts is 12 months

As far as I am aware ,if you had had the part fitted by a qualified, Indesit Company engineer the repair is guaranteed for 14 days.

if we buy parts trade we usually get 3 months on some parts but none at all on others such as circuit boards and it is a nightmare trying to get credit for them..

The part is well out of any warranty TBH.

You did buy a genuine part, there are no pattern spares of complete drums AFAIK. Sadly the bottom line is that it is a 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} Indesit machine, not the best by a very long chalk. 🙁

You are correct Jim, there are no pattern parts at all of that nature, only genuine, 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} pukka Indesit. Nothing other than that is available.

It would therefore not be possible for anyone to supply anything other than the genuine replacement tank assembly.

I will stress however, bearings are a wear and tear item that will fail (generally speaking) as they wear out. Premature failure can be down to several things but, a manufacturing defect on a bearing or a seal protecting them will manifest in short order, normally in a matter of a few weeks, maybe a few months but beyond that it is likely to be down to some cause other than an issue to do with the manufacture of it.

In days or yore with smaller drum capacities, slower spins and so on they lasted a lot longer than they do these days as a general observation but, to even have them fail within twelve month warranty on some machines now is not exactly uncommon.

    K.

Well ive removed the back cover and fly wheel and drilled a hole to the bearings, from this hole ive attached a grease nipple and firred in the grease, not quite a fix but might help it last a little longer… other than this im bypassing the door lock , putting it on full spin and lobbing in my 8kg cannonball… got to get some enjoyment
