ParticipantGood evening guys, could any of you point me in the right direction for service information on a Candy microwave about four years old. Model number is MIC305x. I have no problem with any standard microwave parts, we have hundreds in stock, but I may need a timer control pot.
Cheers Patrick 😀

There’s 2 different timer modules on these depending on the product number date code but what is a “control pot” anyway?

Hi Martin, sorry for the old fashioned tech speak, a pot is a potentiometer, like an old fashioned volume control, just a basic variable resistor, however in this moder day and age of course these things rarely exist, but old farts like me still use the term lol. The device is more likely to be a digital encoder that sets whatever value is required for the operation of the device, normaly in my world its the amount of time required for a function. This is the case with this oven, the control is erratic in its function and the lady is not happy with it.The machine is a Candy MIC305 X, I can let you have the serial number if it helps,
Kindest Regards,
Patrick

Sorry I can’t help you then with anything regarding PCB surface components or the messing with them. It’s a new board or the skip in my book. All I know from looking up the model number is, as I mentioned before, that there a two different boards fitted to this beast and depends on serial number which one is correct.

You are right Martin, the machine has two PCBs fitted. I have persuaded the customer to accept the erratic control and just go with the new magnetron it needs.
However I will add that if it were mine I would go for replacing the digital encoder just to prove a point. The circuit boards by the way are £383 plus vat plus carriage, now that is an extremely cynical price
Thanks for the thoughts anyway, cheers Patrick
