ParticipantHi,
I know the arguments for and against this point.
I wanted a heater for a Hotpoint TVM570.
Qualtex and Connect around £22.50 + VAT and postage.
ebay £18.25 free postage
So with their huge buying power how much profit are these two companies making on this one part. Ebay sellers may not have large overheads but if a one man band like me needs a single part as often happens the first place I look is now ebay then the others.
£33.00 against £18.25…often sent same day so no contest and they are still in profit.

Or could it be that the Ebay seller’s goods fell out the back of a van?

Wow, big difference and I see they only charge just £1.69 extra for delivery tomorrow. Way to-go I reckon. 😉
Edit: That same firm sells via Amazon too! 😀

If you’re talking about Spares 2 Go, I note they specify “compatible replacement”, ie probably non-genuine. Not really a like for like comparison.
I admit I’m slightly biased against Spares 2 Go as I had a less than brilliant buying experience from them with a faulty part I bought privately from them last year, but this may have been a one-off.

Whats wrong with non gen parts?
If the gen part was any good it wouldn’t need changing. 😆October 14, 2014 at 9:35 pm #420182stratfordgirl

The genuine part is safety tested to international standards. In my opinion it’s a bit of a risk to buy such a safety critical part of unknown origin from an obscure discount seller.

Uh huh, like the Bosch and Beko elements of late? 😉
TBH, a lot of the “pattern” parts come out the exact same factory, in the exact same place and to the exact same spec. They just don’t have the same bag and sticker which, invariably, seem to be the most expensive element most of the time for some reason, can’t fathom why that is.
Some pattern parts I’d agree, not good but, most are fine if you buy smart.
