ParticipantHi, can anyone help?
Our fridge has just died and I can’t find any information about it on the web.
It’s a Scandinova LF6-140W – a full height, split door fridge.
Information on the label is as follows:
Type: LF6-140/W
Serial No: 02505190
Refrig R 600A 0.038KG
BKS 385
0-S385.B24-B4010150The internal light and green LED are working but the motor/compressor isn’t running.
There are no leaks and everything seems to be connected OK.I’ve seen a few posts about other Scandinova’s and it turned out to be the thermostat.
Is that likely in this case and if so, where can I get a new one?TIA

It could be the thermostat but its far from definite,
If you need a repair: click here to try our repairs@ service
or e mail spares@ukwhitegoods.com and we may be able to supply the part.

Thanks for the reply.
I did originally try the spares service but Scandinova doesn’t appear in the list of manufacturers so I was unable to.
Does this make go by another name?I’ll send an email off anyway and see how much a thermostat will cost.
It’s got to be worth a try at least.March 4, 2005 at 7:26 pm #127701Brogan

I tried emailing the address you supplied but the email is being bounced due to ‘Unknown local user ‘ces-spares’.

Whilst I wait for an answer on the spare part, can anyone give me any pointers on the capillary tube?
I’ve got the thermostat out but the capillary tube disappears inside towards the back of the fridge.
Unfortunately the back plate appears to be glued on so I suspect it’s not going to be straightforward to replace the thermostat.Any tips on how to do this or should I just call in an expert?

I do not know that model but with most fridges there are 3 versions.
If you have a seperate metal evaporator (this is the plate on the back of the inside of the fridge where the frost forms) the capilary will probably be clamped to this by way of screws or maybe it slips into a metal sleeve. If your thermostat is mounted on the top of the fridge (ie outside of the actual fridge itself) it will pass through the top and then down a tube into the fridge itself. on scandinova models this is normally twinned with a thermometer phial as well. Once the old phial is removed, the new one can then be poked down and can just about be reached with fingers under the evaporator and located where the old one was.If the thermostat is inside the fridge then it may go straight to the evaporator or it may go outside the back of the fridge and then re-inserted at another point or down a tube as above.
The thrid version is what is known as a wet liner where you have no seperate evaporator. In these cases the phial may go down an internal foamed in tube and never emerge into the fridge iteself. In this case it is important to get the correct stat with the correct length of cappillary and poke it back down the tube as far as it can go.
Remember though that the connections on a fridge stat are 240v mains and therefore ensure you unplug the appliance before carrying out any work and ensure the new cappilary cannot come into contact with any live connections.
I have just had a quick look in shop@ and I think this is the stat you need:

Many thanks for the detailed reply.
There is a separate evaporator and the thermostat is mounted at the top outside the fridge so I guess mine is the first version.
That looks like my stat too.
The original part is actually a Danfoss mechanical thermostat type 077B.
I had a look on the Danfoss site but I suspect they don’t sell replacements parts direct to the public.I’ll have a little fiddle and see how easy it’s going to be to replace the part before I go ahead and buy the universal stat.
