The belt came off the drum pulley, and I replaced it. OK for half a wash cycle and then there was a low grinding noise, so I waited for the machine to switch off, emptied the machine and removed the large central bolt on the pulley to see if I could identify the source of the noise. The bolt came out approx 3/4 the way then just spins but remains captive, the pulley will not come away from the bearing and I am unable to see how to proceed further. The pulley was not turning the drum for the last part of the wash cycle as the clothes are still quite wet…….. 🙁

Thankfully very few of these machines where actually sold in this area, in fact I doubt many where sold in total compared to front loaders.

There will be very little in the way of experience or advice available due to that and the fact the machine is ‘apparently’ a pain to work on.

From what I can gather you have to remove one of the screws holding the crosspiece and then insert a 5mm screw, part number 995505201 through one of the holes in the pulley into the hole in the crosspiece that you have removed the screw from to secure the inner drum and allow pulley removal.

Frankly a bearing job on these is something I would flatly refuse to attempt, especially as there are already many parts listed as obsolete. 🙁

Thanks for that!! I eventually found that the splined drive that the pulley locates over had rotted off the drum…..so it would be new drum plus bearing kit plus whatever else turned up in the process….and I do not fancy removing the whole of the innards to change the drum!!

14 years old, so does not owe us anything. Had to change the belt last year but other than that has given really good service, and a wash on average twice a week = 1400 washes…on a narrowboat running on a generator!!!
