ParticipantOur ISE machine has a very noisy drum bearing and a couple of other minor faults, seems to be the end of the road for it sadly.
Looking at replacing it with either a Seimens WM14E461GB (£370) or one of the Panasonics around the same price, either the NA-127VB5WGB or the NA-147VB5WGB. All come with free five year guarantees, and seem to be efficient and quiet. I notice that there is also a Bosch (WAE24366GB) about the same price, would this be a better buy? Family of four using it frequently. What would you recommend as the best choice?
Thanks.October 29, 2014 at 2:57 pm #420895don

Siemens everytime.
German engineered, better build, nationwide service, readily available spare parts and part of the Bosch Neff group.

Spanish engineered, Polish built, expensive service. I’d still get a Bosch, cheaper to buy, less reclaimed cotton insulation so a bit noisier but just as unreliable as the Siemens.

The Siemens is an excellent choice, solid, reliable and built to last. Avoid Panasonic like the Ebola outbreak. Ignore my ‘colleagues’ sense of humour, he’s a problem we have to put up with I’m afraid. 🙁

Almost all washers are using Balay designs, including Siemens and there built in Poland, the only German bit is the name and they control the finacials. Very little is German enginered.

Thanks for the advice, Bosch or Seimens it is! I’ll avoid Panasonic like the plague. I guess ‘proper’ German engineering comes at a price, not in my budget this time.
Does AEG still get a good name? Seeing a couple at quite good prices too just now.November 2, 2014 at 5:59 pm #420901Martin

AEG = Italian built to dump junk.

It’s a lottery out there, thanks to several factors not least Euro zone finances. One peep on here complaining about an expensive fridge, which may well have been built in a country by a brand of a lower retail price.
It’s not always the badge on the appliance that indicates the builder of the product. If they placed a badge on a product then on the rating label it stated built for example by White Knight (Crosslee) the clients could make an informed choice, but that makes sales drop and would never happen.
