ParticipantHello Everyone
We have a Hotpoint WMD 962 P (UK) Ultima washing machine, had it for around 4 years now bought new, it has been a cracker being used at least once a day sometimes as much as 4 or 5 times a day since we got it, never put a foot wrong until now.
It is making a racket on it’s spin cycle, after a bit of research I have come to the conclusion that it must be the drum bearings needing to be replaced, looks a bit fiddly but I am not bad with the old spanners so decided to track down the spare part and to cover all bases do the dampers at the same time, trouble is I cannot locate replacement bearings anywhere for this specific model, I have noticed that the model WMD960PUK and WMD960GUK are, or rather look identical and bearings are easily and cheaply available so was wondering if you lovely people in the know could advise me if they will fit?
Thanks in advance 🙂

You cannot replace the beatings in that tank as it is a sealed one. Essentially, you cannot split it open to get to the bearings in order to replace them, then even if you could, you can’t reseal the tank.
There’s more info on those here: http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/help/buyi … -care.html
The part number for the full tank is C00269168 and it’s roughly about £140 or so. Needless to say, it’s not a popular part.

Hello Kwatt
Thanks for taking the time to reply I appreciate it 😀
That’s a nit of a blow, what a con! Just my luck 🙁 Oh well as said it has been a cracker and have located a full tank assembly for just under £120 delivered so it will have to be, bit annoying though when the equivalent bearing kit would be around 20 quid! Oh well I now have some new knowledge ready for when we buy our next new one.
Thanks again.

is the machine under 5 years old ?
if yes is it covered under hotpoints 5 year parts guarantee
if yes on both counts hotpoint will give you the part for free but only charge you for fitting it. prob works out about the same in the end but you wont have to do the job
