ParticipantHi,
Looking for some help, I have a beko condenser sensor dryer manufactured oct 2010.
Today it made a popping sound whilst drying like a champagne cork and there was a burning smell inside the dryer. The power remained to the appliance and whilst it was not in motion made popping sound again.
I later started the dryer again and it was in motion for maybe 10 minutes before a loud bang and burning smell along with the main house fuse box being tripped. Upon putting power back on to the house, the dryer has no power to it.I have taken the back and top off the machine but can see no signs of damage. The capacitor by the power cord all looks intact…. Any ideas?

Given Beko’s appalling record for safety recalls on their condenser dryers, in this case it could be the main motor you need to check out.
Be safe, unplug appliance from mains. :zap:

Good morning,
Thank you for responding… Any guidance on how and where I look for this main motor?
Thank youKate

Kate, we assume a degree of electro/mechanical knowledge for anyone wishing to undertake repairs to domestic appliances. With the power disconnected and panels removed access to components including the main motor are all too obvious.
Alternatively seek help by sourcing a local repair person to tackle the job for you. 😀

Sexsist. Mains capacitor usually causes issues. With the right hand side panel as you look at from the front removed via screws down the rear you may well smell burning when you place your nose near. All with the plug removed from the wall.

Ok… Well top and back are removed and nothing appears out of sorts. Would the capacitator look damaged if that is the cause of the problem or could it still look intact and have ‘blown’ ?

Can still look intact. It is possible to bypass, if your competent you don’t need to be told how, if you cannot figure it out l would recommend you call in an engineer. If you can work it out the appliance will function without the capacitor as its function is too remove interference.

Ok cheers,
I am not competent but several engineers that I have called won’t come to look at it as say it’s not worth their while.
Guess another barely used appliance is headed for the tip.
