I’m posting this info in the hope that it might be of use. I couldn’t find much info online and what I did find was contradicted by my own experience when I came to do the job.

All three of my drum paddles were knackered, so I bought a new set of genuine replacements. To remove the old ones, it’s necessary to insert a screwdriver through the third hole from the front and use a hammer to knock the securing tabs down, which are to the left and right of the paddle. Once they have been knocked down, you can slide the paddle forward and then by squeezing the sides hard you can unclip the old paddle – three clips either side of the paddle.

Once I had taken the old paddles out, it became obvious that the tabs were used in the factory as a cheap and quick method of securing the paddle without the expense of supplying and fitting screws. However, you cannot use the tabs again to secure the new ones in place unlike the single sloping tab system employed in other machines. You need to fold the tabs flat and forget about them. Instead, you will be securing the paddles using the screw supplied with the new paddle.

Clip the new paddles into place and use a piece of wood as a drift and a hammer to gently knock the paddles as far towards the back of the drum as they will go. Then you need to lay the machine on the side nearest the door hinge, open the door and look in the bottom of the machine. Undo the hose clip holding the sump hose in place, pull off the hose and move it to one side. If you look through the hole and rotate the drum, you will be able to see the hole for the securing screw under the paddle. Using either a magnetic screwdriver or some sticky tape to hold the screw temporarily onto the driver (you don’t want to drop the screw at this point!), insert the screw and tighten to secure the paddle. Refit the sump hose and tighten the hose clip and the job is done.

I hope that is of use to somebody!
