ParticipantHello, I am after a bit of help and advice. I have just moved into a house with Stoves Sterling 1100e cooker with an induction hob. The problem I have is with the control of the four induction rings, occasionally they work then the ring displays read either 8 or just three lines, sometimes flickering and even beeping. It almost seems like a loose connection as when I bang it things often change. I have had the top off and can’t see anything obviously burnt out.
My initial thought is that the control board is wafty, but I do feel that after replacing the glass top it appears to be a bit better . . . . but only a bit. Does anyone know if it could be something to do with the positioning of the glass? I’m not sure how the little springs on the control PCB sense your finger or if I could try cleaning something to make a better contact.
Any help or ideas would be greatly receivedNovember 11, 2014 at 2:49 pm #421292Seamy

Poor connections normally, check connections, starting at the incoming mains at terminal block (Power Off of course) & that links are tight if fitted.

Hi, and thanks for the reply. Ive just had the back off and checked all the terminals, followed the wires from the terminal block and they go straight to the two induction units. Checked these while live and im getting 230v with no fluctuation.
Is there anything I can check on the induction unit boards or the control board to see if they are at fault? (I have some electrical knowledge but not in the appliance field)
I have found a new control board for £120 but dont want to throw cash at the thing then find out its the induction units.Answers on a postcard . . . . . . . .

Vickery1971 – did you manage to fix this? I have a similar problem where one of my induction hobs seems to work fine and the others show error E8 after a couple of minutes of operation. All the connections in the terminal block seem fine…

Afraid I wont be offering any other advise, last time I advised you to test with power off.
