KeymasterJust mended the washing machine, now the dishwasher’s packed up ! It is a Zanussi DE6854. After turning on & selecting a cycle it pumps out as normal but then stops before filling, with the ‘drying’ & ‘power’ lights flashing. The water supply is ok. Any suggestions please ? Thanks.

ParticipantHi Alexis,
I take “lucky” isn’t your middle name then? The fault you are describing is not draining out in the specified time. This may be caused by the machine not draining, it may also THINK it hasn’t emptied, despite the water having gone. This will be a blockage in the water level control sysytem, or the associated tubes under the machine.Pull the plug before going in………

Thanks again Penguin, now working ok despite only finding a very small amount of crud in the pipes.
One question I have, what is all the brown stuff that looks like silica gel in the the tank on the side ?

It’s the water softener regeneration unit.
Glad problem solved,

There’s quite a few versions of this model, to help further, please check around the door for the PNC beginning 911????? and could you let us know how the lights are displayed on the control panel, either 6 in a row, left to right or 2 banks of 3.
Dave.

KeymasterRe: Zanussi DE6854 lights flashing
Dave, the lights are laid out with the program selection buttons in one row left to right and the cycle status lights vertically next to them. Will post the PNC later.

ParticipantIf the wash and drying phase lights are flashing on this model then the following has or may have occured
a) Leakage from the various connections
b) Floating sensor blocked mechanically
c) Float microswitch faultyMarch 15, 2005 at 7:16 pm #127902admin
KeymasterRe: Zanussi DE6854 lights flashing
Thanks, can you give me some guidance where to find the sensor & switch ?

KeymasterRe: Zanussi DE6854 lights flashing
Have now found the fault, it is the water softener regen unit leaking.
It is marked as follows:
Bitron Tipo 428
152.462.40 152.462.41
152.462.42 152.462.43.
Any idea where I can get one ?
Thanks.March 16, 2005 at 11:33 pm #127904Dave_Conway
ParticipantRe: Zanussi DE6854 lights flashing
Do you mean the large chamber on the left hand side of the appliance ?
Sorry, the numbers stamped on it won’t mean a thing I’m afraid, they’re generally just moulding numbers etc.
If it is, that’s the IWMS unit which comes as a kit with the inlet valve and various outher bits, quite a common compliant with these dishwashers.
It’s £65 inc VAT and delivery, if we’re on the same lines, please email me at spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk and I’ll arrange for you.

KeymasterRe: Zanussi DE6854 lights flashing
Dave, it’s a piece that is fitted on the left when looking from the front, just under the outer cover. It is the full height of the machine and has lots of internal passages, including a connection to the drying vent. Let me know if that’s the part you mean please ?
