ParticipantHello,
Usual story.. our washing packed up at the weekend and we are ready to replace it as it is well ready for the knackers yard!
Situation is:
Family of 4 inc 2 teenage girls
The wife washes twice a day most days!
Line/radiator dry
Budget £350ishI used to have an ise 5 (not the machine that has just broke) and if there was something similar from ise for £500 I’d find the extra cash as it was a great machine, however it appears there isn’t.
So from what I’ve read on here Bosch seems the ‘best of the rest’.
I’ve found this model for £369…

am I missing anything better?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Kind regards,
Simon.November 17, 2014 at 11:47 am #421563lee8

All appliances require servicing, the replacement of wearing components. We see broken appliances and to be honest l doubt if many of us actually do the daily washing in any great numbers to be of use. Most clients do not wash correctly, this does posse issues to the results which causes a lot of blame onto the product when in fact the person using it is the issue.
I personally view us as not the most qualified to advise, it’s too random and many brands buy in from external factories, ones view of l don’t repair this brand but recommend this, only to be unaware internally it’s the same product.
I once called to a guy adamant he’d never buy anything but Bosch, his faulty dryer though had been built by and sold not only as a Bosch but also as a White Knight, the only difference was price and facia design.
I’ve also read on here people who repair one brand, refuse to touch others and yet the model indicates no difference between the two.
I personally own a Zanussi, easy to fix, parts cheap or rather free and the wife has no issues, she’s not had issues with our previous machines of Candy, Hotpoint. I reconditioned a Beko for my sis and my mummy has a Bosch. None have issues.
My only advice is to search for one in your price range that appeals, read the instructions, follow the instructions and don’t expect not to need it repairing.

Hi
I would be more than happy to replace my 8 year old Bosch machine for that one. In the last two years we have replaced a single oven and a dishwasher ( two weeks ago ) with Bosch appliances.
With it’s two year warranty as well you will not find a better buy. You could of course budget allowing trade up to the new WAT24460GB machine which currently has a £100 cash back from Bosch at selected Bosch dealers until the 10th Dec. Appliance World here for £436 less cash back. You then get a higher spec machine which is also quieter and more green as well.
HTH 🙂

Thanks, most informative guys.
I suppose there’s no guarantee that a £400 machine will last any longer than a £200 machine. I just think with the excessive usage it will get then I’m more inclined to go for a make with positive reviews. Although, it’s all opinion in the end and all manufacturers will have good & bad reviews.
The Bosch linked by Don from appliance world is currently winning though!
Thanks guys.

Hmm.
Its the height that’s the problem with the Bosch that Don linked to, it’s height being stated as 848mm.
My available space is about 832mm.
There’s nothing I could remove or modify is there?!?!

Totally different ball game then :rolls:
Not so many to choose from and the price is higher as the volume is not as great as freestanding. Prime example is the Bosch integrated price. There is a good selection on AO the Zanussi would be a good bet in your price range. You may have to re core the timber door as the hinge holes may not match.
Or you could simply take out the old machine cut through the plinth and create a space for a freestanding appliance, doing this would mean you would not have the built in look though.

Thanks Don,
Tbh we’ve already lost the in built look with a dishwasher I installed. It too was slightly too tall to fit under the worktop so I removed the ‘lid’ (top piece) and it fitted in.
I’m wondering if this would be possible with the Bosch you linked to? I only need to lose about 16mm, do you think this could be done by removing the feet perhaps?
Failing that I’ll have to find a free standing unit that is no taller than 832mm.

Hi Fillo
Don’t remove the feet 😉 they are needed for leveling and stabilizing the appliance.
Yes you can remove the worktop lid which will get the height down to 815mm, Bosch produce height reduction lid WMZ20430 which is a thin metal plate to cover over or you could make one up yourself.Don
