Hoover HD96M dishwasher. 32000068. 0345 2426.
Hoover HND6515 dishwasher. 32000291. 0643 6161.
Both machines are leaking from the same place. It appears as if the airbox on the right side of both machines is overfilling; as if the softener unit can’t take the incoming mains water pressure. They splutter and throw water out of the top of the airbox vent. The water filling is quite loud.
The HD96 had leaking issues so a new airbox was fitted as the old one’s venturi pipe had seemed to have split internally and was producing a cascade of water on the floor as the airbox overfilled. After fitting, it still leaked a bit, but was markedly better. Turned down the incoming water pressure and the leak stopped. I also found if the salt lid was removed, the problem stopped too.
The HND6515 had a new inlet valve (generic) fitted to cure a ‘filling when off’ problem. It now has exactly the same overfilling airbox fault. Leaks stop when the incoming water pressure is reduced at the ball valve tap.
Thoughts are:- Softener blocked; inlet valves are low pressure versions….. but even though these two machines seemingly use the same single valve and airbox, have different new spare parts fitted and yet have the same resulting fault…. very strange. Is there an issue with these Candy machines and a known cure or am I just unlucky? I have only ever fitted two dishwasher water softener units in 31 years in this trade and both of them were for externally caused damage and not from actual failure.
Any help please?
Thanks,
Steve.
