    Hello there,

I am fitting a new Bosch SMI50C05GB semi-integrated dishwasher. I have fitted several dishwashers in my time with no problems and things have gone swimmingly except I have no idea how to fit the water inlet pipe, which has a Bitrom solenoid valve on the end which is obviously anti-flood protection. My old dishwasher had an ordinary cold water inlet hose that fitted to the water supply by a simple screw fitting (perfectly standard, you expert chaps will know exactly what I mean) and I was hoping that I could just screw that into the Bosch dishwasher. But it ain’t so. Could you chaps please tell me how I fit the water inlet pipe with valve on the end to the water supply? Do I have to buy a new fitting? Or do I have to get a plumber to re-plumb the whole pipe network under the sink? Because if so, I shall have to take it back. But it’s a great dishwasher and I really don’t want to do that and I’m a poor man 🙂

If you need any pictures or any other info, do let me know and thank you very much for any help.

    John.

I think this is called an aqua stop. Basically, how do I fit the aqua stop to the water supply?

    Hi

It should just screw onto the tap/valve that the old hose screwed onto.

Yes I would have thought that too but there is no thread on the aquastop to screw on to the valve. I can see a black thread inside the plastic top segment (see photo), but I can’t get the plastic bit off (it doesn’t unscrew). Please see pictures below. Is there a knack to this? Something I’m missing?

But is DOES unscrew, try turning it anticlockwise.

What do you mean I have to try and force the white bit off the black bit underneath? Because I assure you the two together do not unscrew and simply rotate freely together.

The end of the aquastop just screws on to the tap/valve. It may not look like there is a thread there, but there will be.

I’m having the same problem, would be grateful if you could let me know how you resolved this.

    Thanks,

this is a bit late for the original poster but may help anyone with the same problem.
If you are not replacing a machine but adding a new one, you will not have somewhere to “just screw it on to” 15mm connection is too small, 22mm is too large, you need a male 3/4 inch connecter (perhaps the manufacturers could supply a connector with the machine, it would save people a lot of trouble?)
