My Hotpoint ST98 PAX oven (serial number 03312830200) is not heating up. The oven light comes on, the fan/s come on, and the timer display appears to function normally, but there is no heat from any of the elements in the oven (top/grill, bottom).

The timer did go dim and then the display disappeared, but after giving the oven a slap (don’t laugh!) the display came back again, but no heating is happening. What should I do to diagnose where the fault lies?

I’m not sure there is a replacement timer module available for this oven (not from UK Whitegoods, anyway, awaiting response from Hotpoint) – will I have to therefore get a whole new oven?!

    Thanks in advance.

i dont know the oven but if its a simple timer you can short it out electrically. if thr timer also controls oven temp then you have no choice but to replace

post a photo of the back of the timer and most enginners will know if it can be bridged

    Thanks for the reply Dave.

The timer is a complex multi-function digital display controller for oven temp/programme/timer etc.

I think I’ll look for a replacement oven – this Hotpoint was cheap and I’ve had about 10 years out of it.
