I have fitted a new belt to this machine but the rear bearing surfaces seem to be binding so I need to remove the main back panel. I can’t see how to remove the fan. There is a spring clip on the end of the spindle but this is too deeply recessed into the fan to be prised of with screwdrivers. 🙁

    Hi Phidom,

    Welcome to the site.

If nobdy can help you with this PM me in the morning when I’m back at my desk as I think I have an idiot’s guide to those machines somewhere. 😉

    WELCOME PHILDOM

WITH THESE MACHINES THEY SHOULD BE A PLASTIC FAN WHEEL NORMALLY MOST OF OUR TECHNICIANS HAVE TO BREAK IT OFF AND THEN FIT A NEW ONE AFTER WORK HAS BEEN CARRIED OUT BUT IF YOU WANT MORE INFORMATION GIVE ME A PM

On the tin fan ones I’ve worked on it’s a left hand thread. However, the parts diagram for this model isn’t too clear as to how it’s held on.
As to the plastic ones, take the bolt out, use an old screwdriver or wood chisel and slightly crack the fan where the keyway is, it should then just pull off.

A good tip for the plastic fans on the back of the Crosslee condensor dryers is to ask the customer for a loan of their garden spade 😆 , I am serious here by the way. wedge the spade in behind the fan and apply pressure, fan comes off every time.

    Hi
Give what Dented Porsche said a go. If they are like the minature Dryers they are reverse thread. I get the fan part number as 481251518016

The fan has the sort of notched spring clip as used to hold microswitches onto interlocks (eg Hoover). I suppose this might be in addition to a thread as the rear of the fan is a large hexagon, although the blades get in the way of putting a spanner on this.

if it is a small dryer with the bulbous back panel remove the clip if you look through the fan blades There is a flat on the shaft of the motor which is enough to get a pair of long nose molegrips onto(you may have to bend some blades then put a large flat blade through one of the holes lock it onto something apply pressure (reverse thread )and it should go

    Re: White Knight CL372WV

Thanks for all the advice gents. I have removed the panel complete with motor and fan. The noisy operation turns out to be the rear bearing pads worn to nothing and the drum has worn the flange of the back panel down to foil thickness. I will give the customer the option of a new panel + bearing pads but the likely outcome is another scrapped 2 year old appliance. 🙁
