    Model DOD338BUI Bought 2004

Hi, its my Mums oven. Lots issues and many service call-outs with v poor results – each time the guy has said there should be nothing wrong with it…

First one is temp is always 20 deg lower than indicated (bought thermometer to sit inside to verify actual temp). But this is manageable so no need really to fix..

Pyrolitic cycle does not work, seems to get hot but not as hot as it used to get when the pyro did work… the door will lock, but afterwards there is some ash but still a lot of stuff not reduced to ash.

The most annoying prob is after you cook, the fan stays on – the manual says it does this to cool the oven, but the fan stays on for 1-2 hrs! Noisy and no need for it…We end up switching off at the mains to stop this.

    Many thanks for any advice

Firstly.. Ovens do not work at an exact temperature, they work within a 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} margin of the set temperature.. ie. set for 200 degs will give an operating temperature between 180 – 220.

Pyro works using all the elements of the oven… if one is defective or weak, then that can dramatically reduce the pyro working temperature.

Third… The fan you hear is a cavity cooling fan and the hotter the oven the longer it will stay on.. The fan is there to protect you, your kitchen appliance wiring and clocks, and your kitchen units; DO NOT TURN IT OFF. If it is noisy then it is worn, have it replaced.

Sounds as though either a sensor is defective or the control. Cooling fan shouldn’t run that long and as all pyrolytic cookers use more sensitive temp monitoring, so their usually within a 3{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} + – range, as their on more expensive models.

Something believes your oven is hotter than it actually is.

Re: De Dietrich Pyrolitic Oven – Problems

If the fan is noisy it may be worn and therefore running at a decreased speed causing severe reduction in airflow, hence, inefficiency in cooling.. The reduced airflow will cause the fan to stay on much longer…

Likewise, as Lee8 has said.. some sort of inline sensor is at fault.. but still, change that fan.

Re: De Dietrich Pyrolitic Oven – Problems

Hi guys, many thanks for your input. Just to clarify, the cooling fan is not excessively noisy, its just the fact its still on 60mins after turning temp off in main oven, when obviously the oven has cooled. After switching off at the mains, and say turning back on a few days later, the cooling fan often comes on for no apparent reason. This is intermittent but very annoying. We have got hold of a new service agent who hopefully can do something…

On the pyro problem, if we replaced the element (is there more than 1?) then hopefully that issue might be sorted..

    Cheers
    Denis
