If that’s an F21 fault, it’ll be brushes. But after fitting the brushes, the computer has to be reset.
To reset:-
Unplug the motor; plug the machine in to the mains. Turn the dial to the “six o’clock” position (usually spin only). Hold down the “spin speed” selection button for two seconds and then turn the dial one click clockwise. Release button and turn the dial to “Off” position.
Turn the dial back on and the display shows as normal.Note: This can take you 20+ attempts; so don’t lose heart, it’ll work eventually. Stupid and pointless attempt by BSH to foil repairs by external engineers. Don’t forget to plug the motor back in before you select and initialise the cycle, or it may revert to F21 again…….
HTH,
Steve.

Have you done the reset? F63 is PCB fault but can also be cleared by resetting the PCB as above. If you try this again (X 20) and F63 still shows, module is goosed. (technical term 😉 )
Both faults are responses to a power cut or surge experienced by the board but from different sources.HTH,
Steve.

Finally. 8) :rolls: took me twice as long to clear F21 than it did to change the bloody brushes in the first place, stupid idea. 🙁

The idea is that it locks the appliance to protect the motor and only reset once the brushes are renewed. It can take a couple of tries . The best thing is to do it quite quickly . I.e don’t dwell on holding the spin speed button once the selector knob has been clicked on one position.

That’s why then…
If reset is carried out more than 5 times before brushes are replaced then reset must be carried out 3 times after brush change with a different set of finger prints, its in the manual.

It will also take a DNA sample to prevent further ‘meddling’…….. 🙂
