    Hi,

I’d appreciate advice on the following:

Would an engineer in the East Lothian, Scotland area be available to fit a De-Dietrich pyrolitic lower oven door lock for the following model:

DOD 448 XG 1(2) MODEL – Double Built in Oven

    http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/74×4648- … -door-lock

We haven’t been able to use the lower oven for absolutely ages (over a year – we couldn’t cook the turkey last year and had to visit relatives on Christmas Day) and thought that we wouldn’t be able to have it repaired now that De Dietrich are in liquidation. It was a happy coincidence that we came across the UK Whitegoods website, and that offered us some hope. We had previously asked a local domestic appliance engineer to review things, but he simply looked at the oven, asked why we had bought it, and told us that it couldn’t be repaired as parts were no longer available. We have just limped on the best we could since then until reading the above link.

We hope that the replacement door lock described in the link will allow resolution of this problem.

As it mentions in the article, our de Dietrich lower oven light does in fact stay on whenever the wall mounted power switch is switched on, and the lower oven warms very slightly when we try to switch it on from the control panel. The upper oven/grill still works normally, and the lower oven light remains on during operation of the upper oven/grill (no heat generated by the lower oven while the upper oven/grill is in operation), even although the lower oven isn’t switched to the on setting.

Does this give you enough information to assist please? Do you think we would be able to fit the item ourselves if there is no local engineer available?

The item was purchased from John Lewis, and I had hoped they would assist us, but this has not been the case.

    Thanks,

    M
