THE ” DELICATE ” ( 6th ALONG ) LIGHT IS FLASHING
RANG HOTPOINT AND ” FAULT CODE ” NOT LISTED ( SUPRISE , SUPRISE ) BUT THEY SAID THEY COULD ARRANGE FOR A ENGINEER TO COME FOR A FEE OF £89 !!!!!! ( PARTS WOULD BE “FREE” BUT LABOUR WOULD NOT )

I suspect the drain pump is jammed up with something? Please tell me, when you start a programme (any programme) you should hear the drain pump ‘whirring’…..and the sump should be empty of water…is it in your case I wonder?

THANKS FOR REPLYING
AFTER REMOVING FILTER ( TO CLEAN ) THE ” SUMP ? ” WAS FULL OF WATER
JUST TURNED ON DISHWASHER AGAIN AND ONLY LIGHT FLASHING IS ” RINSE AID ” . HAVE NEVER USED RINSE AID BEFORE SO CAN’T THINK THIS HAS ANTHING TO DO WITH IT
ALSO SALT NEEDED TO BE REFILLED ( WHICH I DID ) AND SINCE THEN DISHWASHER HAS NOT WORKEDCOULD EITHER OF THESE HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT
——————————————————————————-
I HAVE JUST RECLEANED THE FILTER AND SET DISHWASHER TO CLEAN 2 PLATES ONLY ( TO TEST ) WILL POST DETAILS TOMORROW

The sump will always have some water in it although if its draining correctly this will be below the level of the filter.
As Martin asked….do you hear the drain pump making a noise as soon as the machine starts up?March 8, 2005 at 7:51 pm #128065Martin

sorry for shouting 😀
when the dishwasher starts it does make a noise ( “whirring” ? ) for approx. 30 seconds before wash starts
i also noticed that for last 2 attempts the compartment where you put the tablet has not opened ( tablet still inside )
it appears that the programme ( any ) stops around half way through it’s cycle ( or at least before tablet door opens and hot water arrives )
cheers

russt,
No probs on the SHOUTING by the way 😆
It sounds as though the water inlet side of your machines cycle is not operating? I would advise getting an engineer in to check it out for you. We may have one on site covering your area? Try this link : –

live in ashton under lyne , tried your link but to no avail
there is water ( i think it is the pre-wash ) in the machine
i ” think ” it could be a ” heating ” problem as all appears normal upto the wash/tablet release point

Correct mate – fault is time out heating up. if there are no local engineers listed in your area get back onto hotpoint as it probly will need a part replacing.

just had hotpoint engineer repair my dishwasher
it turned out i was right and it was the heater , which had to be replaced ( part was £26 but paid £90 as standard charge — it only took 30 minutes to repair )
also
i was told not to use it for a couple of days whilst the tray underneath dries out , if i did then the ECO 45 light would light up
😀

That’s only marginally possible if the engineer didn’t bother to dry out the baseplate in the first place having disconnected and replaced the heater unit 🙁
Ah well! Thanks for letting us know and hopefully you are sorted now albeit at a price ‘cos Hotpoint engineers charge OTT service rates ❗
