Had this one a little while now.

Has been making a few squeaks and clangs recently, now has stopped working altogether. Have checked the usual stuff such as filters etc.

Just emits a buzz and does nothing.

    Any ideas pls ?

Quite willing to open up and get spares if pointed in the right direction 🙂

    Thanks in advance…..

Motor Capacitor Part No : X245592– (cost around £10’ish) is faulty by the sound of it 😉

I can do them with my eyes shut and one hand tied behind my back, but its my trade and business to know how to do it after all 🙄

As for you to do, and with the greatest respect, I would advise caution, a little know-how goes a long way and without it?…you will struggle possibly? Sadly because of the legalities of advising the general public on matters that can result in health and safety issuses, I cannot advise any further….I’ve just given you my oppinion on the likely cause that’s all.

If you are in any doubt, do check out someone like me on this site that can fix it for you here: –

Agree with martin on this, sounds like capacitor – but check it still heats up.

Capacitor is rated 7uf on these and available from shop@ http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/Tumble+D … citor.html
    £5.95 plus postage, bargain

    Re: Creda TCR13 Condenser – Buzzing/No go

Thanks for the advice so far 🙂

This machine is in the region of 5 years old and am wondering whether to bother to get someone to repair – saying this on a machine of this age whose to say how long it would last before the next breakdown. What in the region of should it cost in total parts/labour and is it worth it ?

Other option is to buy a newer machine – maybe better quality – have been looking at the following machines…..

LG TCD70040E – can be had at £358 online – £100 less than Comet.
AEG T56800 – can be had for £428 – £60 less than Comet.

    Thanks again in advance.

To get your dryer fixed based on our assumption that the Capacitor is at fault, would cost probably no more than £60. Once again I would suggest you check if a local engineer can quote you by clicking here:

Your choice of replacement dryers is questionable however. I would stick with the Creda/Hotpoint brand if I were you 😉
