Hello – This appliance works fine except for the flap in the freezer door unit.

I have stripped it down and found nothing broken, to my knowledge. The motor meters out fine and the mechanical spindle operates the microswitches ok and the switches are also fine.

When back together I found that the flap motor operates but doesn’t seem to have the power to close the flap itself. I can feel the motor working and the flap vibrates a little but it doesn’t close.

    Any ideas please?

There is no motor to close a rsg5 flap.. It closes on its own

It has a small round clock motor fixed on the side which drives a white plastic cam which in turn activate 2 micro switches which then makes the flap move… This motor does start and the flap appears to move but then just vibrates for a second and leaves the flap floppy – doesn’t have the force/power to get closed.

Is this round clock motor the problem maybe or is there an issue with the flap mech. itself perhaps?

Generally, synchronous motors like that either work or they don’t so you have a mechanical problem there…

plastic pin that holds the return spring has broken off, it will need ice chute assy, common on these.
