ParticipantHi there I never had this fault and cant get to the bottom of it so I am hoping some one can put there finger on it or have had it happen for some reason ,went to a beko washing machine about 3 years old found the heater was down to earth so fitted a new gen one 2863701600 element worked for around a month then went down to earth again so I thought it may be a faulted element so fitted a new one last wk. off it went got a call to say earth leakage breaker in house was dropping out again went back and yes the element is down to earth again ,at looking at the elements they look like after a wk. of working they are all white with scale more then I would have thought after 1 wk ,been in the game over 30 years could it be the pcb but no fault codes come up ntc is new and comes with the element am at a lose .

Poor quality elements i’d imagine, get nickel coated ones, they are very silvery looking, not dull grey.
Part number for a harsh water nickel coated element used by ‘Lux is 1326475207, think this will fit a beko too.January 21, 2015 at 10:44 am #423893Martin

Heater coming on with no water in tub I would think. Whether it’s gold plated or eBay cheap junk a succession of failed heaters cannot self-destruct one after the other in this way.

Could also be detergent related, over sudsing perhaps which can expose heater to air pockets.

Now that’s interesting, how exactly would that work? You mean the user has to overdose to such an extent that several litres of water in the tub turns instead to bubbles?

wouldn’t be covered in white limescale though if that was the case.
check for damage on the heater from contact with the drum, cracked drum spider flexing under fast spin load is most likely.

Possibly play in the drum hitting the element damaging it? Seen it happen on other washing machines.

It doesn’t take a huge over dose a smaller than usual load and user puts in generous amounts of detergent ,if cotton washes are used then water level is lower, more vigorous drum rotation so over sudsing occurs, saw it frequently in commercials that aren’t automatically dosed (detergent need to match load size) and they always left the white powder on element.
3 Phase machines, so three elements and the top one opposite to the drum rotation always copped it, because it was the first to get exposed to air, used to have a company bulletin somewhere on the subject.
Check it’s not a cheap powder that’s causing over sudsing.
have they changed powders.
Having said that could be coincidence and total bad luck.

You could also check that the machine is filling with the correct amount of water.

had one on a hoover machine the same as this and it turned out to be the heater retainer in the tub had broken causing the heater to rub against it and rub through the thin tin of the element.
