    Hi

To cut a long story short, got scrap dishwasher, fitted new handle, repaired broken buttons, re-built in a hurry, got a wire wrong on controller – BANG – controller dead (22073001404).

Bought 2nd control panel off eBay and its slightly older and a different ID number to original (its inside the machine now, so not sure about serial – but about 6 months older and last 3 digits different, original has delay timer, replacement does not).

Wired it up correctly (I think) and all is fine until washer gets to heating the water up, when it empties and throws an error (light 2 flashing, light 5 on – from left to right). In my manual (for the original controller) it says SAFETY LEVEL – so water level tripped, but as by this point the washer has gone through rinse cycles successfully I am inclined to think the problem is more likely WATER HEATING MALFUNCTION. Either caused by original short which killed the controller, a logic incompatibility of the new controller or I have got the wiring wrong with less disastrous effect…

My question, does anyone have a circuit diagram for the above? Can anyone confirm if the error light status is fixed for all SMEG dishwashers? So can be trusted?

Even though the new controller came from a machine without the delay timer, I connected the delay button panel / LED lead to the header in the controller on the off chance – but all the delay LEDs light up solid and the button does zilch so I assume that confirms the firmware is different even if the hardware layout looks identical.

Any help appreciated before I skip it.

p.s. Machine has an “ECO” programme, the replacement panel had “BIO” in the same location. Power button works (obviously) and the programme / pause / run buttons do as expected cycling through the LEDs. I ran the LIGHT and SUPER programmes and they appear to work fine (light short, super long) before getting to the hot water bit, when it drains then throws the above error – no water left inside, but it was cold. Soap flap not opened either.

You are correct, the firmware will be different and quite possibly a bunch of other stuff as well as they are very often model and even production batch specific.

Like many things these days, you cannot butcher control modules up and fit different ones to different models as they will often simply not work, if they don’t just blow on fitting.

Unless you fit the correct, pukka board then there’s no way to tell what the issue is and that’s just to get started.

That skip probably looks appealing right about now if you don’t want to lay out the cash to get the correct board.

    K.

Many thanks for the response. I appreciate its an unknown quantity and would have given up straight away if there had been an odd response initially – but as it appears to start up ok and the programmes do predictable things I was wondering what the wires went to so I could check the heater element and see if I have got one of the connectors wrong (I don’t think I have), not the end of world as it all cheap – just curious really.
