Well looks like its my week of domestic appliance issues.
My Candy GODF800 L80 Type P55TF Washing machine has developed the following fault.
It started making a loud noise when it went in to spin mode.
The lights on the front started flickering along with the house lights
I opened it up span the drum and could hear a clicking type noise from the motor.
took belt off and span drum. All good. checked for movement. all good.
Span motor and its noisy/clicking but not play in the shaft.
Took motor off. took brushed off noticed casing of 1 brush slightly melted. lots of carbon left on both.
spun motor again all seemed good. check shaft where brushed meet. seems fine. No obvious noise or movement
ordered new brushes and fitted. noise increased but I put that down to them needing to bed in.
refitted motor etc. did test wash. still noisy on wash but got better, then the noise returned with avengence on spin. lights flash both machine and house.
Stripped off and checked brushes again. they are bedding in.
checked motor again. If I listen very carefully I can just about detect a noise. shaft spins well, I could perhaps say that the shaft/bearing is a tiny fraction rough, but didn’t think that level would cause the noise.
But perhaps at 1400rpm and mounted inside a tin can it may compound the issue.
Any other checks before I spend between £60 and £100 + on a new motor ?
Thanks
Stuart
