Our old but reliable AEG recently had a leak which originated from the soap tray and ran down through the machine, which was successfully fixed by my husband (took all the tubes off and reseated them, with a bit of mastic round one of the critical ones). However, the soap tray is now often full of water when removed once the cycle has finished. Could my husband have replaced something slightly wrong when he did the orignal repair? It would help to know how this water gets drained normally, as we can’t work it out!!

Is it just the conditioner section of the drawer that has water,if so itslikely the little syphon is not oncorrectly, if the water from drawer is not going through to drum it could be the hose is twisted/kinked for instance.

It is just the conditioner drawer and we had thought it might be the little siphon-thingy. It seems to be seating OK and there doesn’t look like there’s anything wrong with it. Occasionally the water won’t be there, but it’s not clear that there’s anything different about how the siphon is put on! As the machine is quite old, but carefully used, there might be some wear & tear – do you think it’s possible/advisable to try and get a new one?

There should be a few tubes below syphon that cap fits over when in place, make sure these are clean, you can try pushing something flexible through to clean, around base of soapbox also.
Its a really small & simple thing to sort, would’nt go replacing the appliance over this yet.
