ParticipantEverything on my Crusader 37667 (condenser/reverse action) tumble dryer works! – The drum, rotates (in both directions), the heater switches on, the timer runs but more often than not it will run without the heater coming on.
I’ve replaced both thermostats, the timer and the start relay. When I turned the dryer on, having fitted the start relay yesterday, the dryer ran a short while, stopped, reversed (heater came on), ran for approx. 10 minutes (heater on all the time), stopped, reversed but then the heater doesn’t come back on. It will then run in one direction only without reversing and the heater staying off. I’ve also noticed that the heater is not being turned-off in the final 10 minutes, if it gets that far!
I have to assume that all three of the new components I’ve replaced are working as intended but I’ve run out of ideas as to what the fault my be.
Any suggestions gratefully received?
Many Thanks
Chris

Which timer did you replace, the timer at the top that you turn with the knob does not control the reverse action or the on/off heater operation. There is another timer in the base that does that. 😉

Hi, many thanks for taking the time to respond, I replaced the timer on the front control panel, so not the reversing timer. Where abouts is that located in the dryer, I’ve not spotted it before? Does the reversing timer also switch the heater on and then off in the final 10 minutes for the cool down phase?

OK so having taken the side panel off the dryer and located the reversing timer behind the motor it’s apparent that the heads of the screws that hold it in place face the back panel. Conveniently there is a hole cut in the back panel through which I can get a screw driver to undo one of the screws. However, there is no such hole above the second screw and the only way that I can see that you can access it is to remove the spring clip which holds the fan blade unit in place, remove the blade unit and then remove the whole back panel – is that right? The other easier option is to drill a suitably sized hole through the back panel directly above the currently inaccessible screw head. That option saves undoing lots of screws that hold the panels in place!! Any suggestions welcome. Many Thanks

Do which ever you find the best, it’s in a stupid position and is a real PITA to get at. They did move it later and mounted it flat on the base.
