    When I press the on/off switch there is a metallic clattering sound, a bit like a metallic woodpecker or as if a fan were hitting something. The noise appeared to be coming from the drain pump area but I have replaced this and the noise still occurs. Any ideas?

    My washing machine engineer says it is not the door lock mechanism which he thought it would be but the main control board that is faulty. The part alone will cost £180, so I am going to scrap it and but a new one.
