ParticipantIt’s an HJA 8553 in a rented house, tenant has little English.
Anyway, he (the tenant) managed to push the door release button clean through the facia which I managed to put back in place but the door ‘pecker’ is flapping around and he seems to be saying he was not messing with it.When I split the door surround there was a steel plate over the back of the pecker secured by 2 screws but no sign of a spring .
I’m not too familiar with this Howdens junk, and a web search just came up with the pecker as a door part, no sign of a spring.
The machine runs when I push inside the interlock with a screwdriver.
Anyone know what these things should look like ? 🙂Thanks, Eddie.

It’s only a Candy Hoover machine in a dress Eddie. 😉
Not much to go on though…
65 is part number 41023560.

Sounds like he has forced the door open and has broken the door lock in the process, there is no spring on the pecker itself as it is the door lock that moves out of the way to allow the machine to open.

Thanks for the responses. Yeah, the door is not quite the same as in Ken’s diagram as it has no handle, just fascia button release.
The tenant has likely been pushing it before the machine is ready to open.
I just cant get the door to latch and the floppy pecker (ohh matron) didn’t seem right. So if floppy pecker is normal it’s got to be an issue with the interlock itself then.

They always have a bit of flop to them, as long as the plate is screwed up tight and the door frame is unbroken then its fine, if memory serves me right then it will be a couple of broken lugs in the door lock, replace the lock and all should be fine.

I’ll get a hold of a lock mechanism then, thanks for your help.
